Village Laguna’s annual holiday party was held on Monday, Dec. 18, at the Neighborhood Congregational Church at 6 p.m. for the election of Village Laguna board members for 2024, distribution of donations to the organizations the group supports, and its annual potluck feast.

In operation for more than 25 years, the SCCC manages the Laguna Day Worker Center (LDWC), which helps local workers find job opportunities and community support. and La Playa Center, where individuals can find free adult English as a second language (ESL) classes in Laguna Beach and San Juan Capistrano.

There are hundreds of nonprofits in this town. Every human – or animal –need is immediately met by one or more local groups eager to help. And anyone who moves here finds quick and valuable assistance. The three nonprofits which come immediately to mind helping newcomers in Laguna are the Community Clinic, the Food Pantry and the Crosscultural Council...

The Laguna Beach Day Worker Center recently received brand new signage from the city, giving a fresh look to a site operational on Canyon Road for more than 30 years. Along with the new signs, the center is offering a number of new English learning programs in hopes the new classes and long-term commitment to increasing worker resources will revitalize the center, which was struck hard by the pandemic.
